  gratitude first...thank you all for tolerating my rambling, self indulgent, and sometimes "know it all" posts.

  you have all been gracious, caring, and wonderful support.

  i have found some of you to be hilarious and warm... those who have come here for help, have cerainly stumbled into something wonderful.

  I posted that same article some weeks back, DakotaRed. I found it very interesting as well.

  I'm tired of how fashionable anti-american sentiment has become, but I try to hold onto the belief that part of what makes this country great is that all Americans are free to think and say what they like without fear of being dragged out of their houses and shot in the public square for their words and beliefs.

  Like the author, I think America has shown remarkable restraint since 9/11.

  Difference of age

  so many times in the jw, i saw couples getting married.

  but what struck me so often was the difference in age between the man and wife.

  often the man was 15-25 years older than the woman.

  My husband is just shy of 10 years older than I am, and while I agree that the attitude that "age is just a number" can be thrown about in deference to the heart being blind to such matters, there are certain considerations one has to make with even a 10 year age difference in a relationship.

  On a daily basis, it's a non-issue (aside from the good natured ribbing that is abundant at our house--"Honey, when you graduated from high school, I was in third grade!" or "The year you lost your virginity, I was six years old!"). I fell in love with him, it would have mattered very little to me how old he was. I suppose that the it matters when you meet someone, as well. There's a period of in most of our lives where age means much less than it does when we're very young or getting 'old'. I was 23, he was 32. At that point in our lives we were pretty much peers. It would have been a different (and creepy!) story had we met when I was 15 and he was going on 25.

  That is not to say, however, that any significant age difference doesn't require a little forethought. Planning for a synchronized retirement makes for some pretty creative fiscal management and investment strategies. Planning our family took a some consideration about the future. And even our 10 year spread makes for some fear about living out our golden years together. Fortunately, my husband has promised that he will outlive me, and insists that I'm lucky to have found him because a younger man could never handle me...

  You're totally right...I've been laughing for the last five minutes! Apparently I'm of the .005% of people who's mind isn't capable of performing simple mathematic calculations in my head anymore (also known as accountants--be afraid!). If I'd been playing along correctly at home, I think we can be pretty certain that my Kanagaroo would be eating and orange in Denmark.

  i heard a song on the radio yesterday, that i wonder if many have heard.

  it is being boycotted by many country radio stations.

  i personally don't listen to much country, but had a chance to hear this song on a national radio talk show.

  No, I never heard that song......probably never will. We don't really get country music here in Pennsylvania.

  I think not. Let's try to remember that the fact that you live in Pennsylvania, and that you don't regularly listen to country music doesn't mean that the entire state doesn't have regular access to it. Flip around your dial, I'm sure there are countless stations you've been unaware of.

  It's a Daryl Worley, right? I don't know what all the fuss is about. A boycott seems a little ironic to me. Seems like it hits a little closer to home than people would like it to. As I love irony in all of it's various forms, I say a heartfelt: "Puh-leeze".

  I like these kinds of things. There's nothing "dull" about it, in my opinion. Statistical probability related to human behavior is fascinating. Of COURSE it's manipulative, but it couldn't very well be so if there weren't some relative absolutes in how people make choices given specifically constructed parameters.

  Michael Jackson.....again!

  well now i can't make my mind up...!!

  (whats new) over her in the uk, skyone has just aired the michael jackson side of the documentary from martin bashir....you know the one where mj is filming bashir interviewing him, a kind of a me watching you watching me thing.

  while i've always thought mj has lost the plot a bit, i do like his music, and this new film totally contradicted the original bashir documentary.

  Oh Liberty, I didn't hate you in the drug debate. That's silly. You just made a really ridiculous analogy in a response post that rubbed me totally the wrong way.

  As to the children being biologically his, I will agree that there is a slim possiblity that they may be his children. I am not a geneticist, and I can't remember how to construct a Punnett square to determine the probability of children born to Michael Jackson with a caucasion appearance. I will also say that even though my knowledge of all iterations of bi-racial children is not extensive, I've never ONCE seen a tow-headed, straight haired white child with a black biological parent. In my opinion, those children are not his biologically. It's more likely in my opinion that he snatched them out of momentarily stranded strollers at a local Toys R Us than sired them genetically.

  If they are adopted, so be it. I have no issue (beyond the "Holy Crap, who would give that freak a baby!" argument) with his having adopted children. It's the pretense that he somehow created these children with a woman in any sort of natural manner that sickens me.

  The really amazing thing to me about this thread is the number of people who have railed against "biased journalism", but take as gospel truth the edited portions of Jackson's response. It's not as if the interviewer being vilified has cornered the market on spin, people. Isn't it more likely that the "truth" lies somewhere between the two versions?

  Thanks for the information. In my personal experience (which is relatively limited, let's say maybe 10 friends who are parents of bi-racial kids) I haven't noticed any children who looked as completely and totally caucasian as Jackson's who have one black parent and one white parent. My personal experience is limited, admittedly, and it's entirely possible that he's the bilogical father of all of the children. As to who on earth would let the man adopt a children given his personal weirdness factor, I guess money could go a long way in convincing the powers that be...
